Obverse (Front)

• Design: Depicts Lady Liberty striding forward with a torch in her right hand (symbol of enlightenment) and an olive branch in her left (symbol of peace).

• Background: Radiating sun rays behind her, with the U.S. Capitol building visible in the lower left.

• Inscriptions:

  • “LIBERTY” at the top

  • Year of issue: 2013 on the right side near her foot

  • A ring of stars around the border

This design is inspired by Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ classic 1907 $20 Double Eagle.

Reverse (Back)

• Design: Shows a male bald eagle in flight carrying an olive branch, approaching a nest with a female eagle and hatchlings.

• Inscriptions:

  • “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” at the top

  • Mottoes: “E PLURIBUS UNUM” (left) and “IN GOD WE TRUST” (right)

  • Weight and purity: 1 OZ. FINE GOLD ~ 50 DOLLARS
